Sifu Joanne B. Shumski resides in Peckville, Pa. with her husband, of
35 years, Tony (Orange Sash), daughter Jennifer (Purple Sash) and grandson
Johnathan (Jr. Black Sash). Her son Damian and daughter-in-law Wendi
are both Gray Sashes. Sifu Joanne graduated from Blakely High School in
1966. She received a Medical Certificate in Physical Therapy in 2001. She
joined the Pai Lum Tao Family in 2000, studying Tai Chi under SiGung Bob Earl
at the Glenn Wilson Martial Arts Academy in Archbald, Pa. She began
studying Kung Fu in 2003 and has attained the rank of Yellow Sash. Sifu Joanne
passed her test for Sifu at the International Tournament in 2005.

2001 Outstanding support as a Sidi
2003 Assistant Instructor of the Year
2004 Assistant Instructor of the Year
2005 1st Place Senior Division Tai Chi at the Arnold Schwarzenneger
Tournament in Columbus, Ohio
Sifu Joanne also has been awarded many first and second place medals at
the International Tournaments and Pennsylvania State Tournaments.
She enjoys spending time with her fellow students of Pai Lum Tao. She
hopes to one day open her own school with her son, Damian, and
daughter-in-law, Wendi. Her hobbies are swimming, reading, softball, and
cooking for SiTaiGung and Simo, and all the Sifus at our spring camp.
She considers it an honor to be a part of the long tradition of Pai Lum
Tao.
